WELCOME HOME #4
On se retrouve en ce nouveau dimanche pour le quatrième et dernier volet de ma mini-série Welcome Home. J’ai choisi de vous montrer cette pièce en dernier car c’était celle qui a demandé le plus d’attention et que j’ai mis le plus de temps à aménager.
Même si le résultat est plutôt abouti, sachez que quelques changements arriveront dans les prochains mois. Notamment concernant le système de rangements que j’aimerais optimiser au maximum.
Vous ne le savez peut-être pas mais la maison que j’habite actuellement, qui était à l’origine de plein-pied, a été retapée de fond en comble. Les travaux ont donc permis de casser l’ancien grenier pour en faire un étage, certes bas de plafond, mais un étage quand même !
C’est ainsi que ce gain d’espace a donné vie à une vraie chambre, séparée de la pièce à vivre et ainsi de gagner davantage de place au rez-de-chaussée.
Les premières nuits post-emménagement ont alors été l’occasion de faire du camping car je n’avais rien d’autre qu’un canapé-lit qui trônait désormais dans mon nouveau salon. J’ai donc du investir dans un vrai lit, avec un vrai matelas, un vrai sommier et c’est avec un enthousiasme non dissimulé que j’ai choisi de céder à mon coup de cœur.
Un lit combinant le style et le pratique. Avec son cadre matelassé beige et ses lignes romantiques, le lit Hauga compte également quatre rangements (deux de chaque côté) où j’ai pu y ranger tout mon linge de maison, mes pyjamas et mes maillots de bain.
Le plafond étant relativement bas et la pièce totalement vide lors de mon emménagement, j’ai aussi du choisir une option efficace pour optimiser les endroits mansardés et ainsi gagner un maximum de place au sol.
J’ai donc opté pour des rangements Kallax de chez Ikéa pour aménager tout le long de la mansarde. Et même s’ils n’ont rien d’esthétique, ces casiers ont néanmoins le mérite d’être très pratiques pour y ranger chaussettes et sous-vêtements.
Pour l’éclairage, même si les deux Velux fournissaient déjà une belle source de lumière naturelle, j’ai jeté mon dévolu sur des lampes de chevet et applique murale en cannage ou avec un effet bois pour garder un côté naturel. Parfaites pour une ambiance cosy et tamisée les soirs ou je préfère me glisser dans mon lit plus tôt que prévu et lire un bon livre.
Enfin, dernier rangement non négligeable de cette pièce, la fameuse commode Malm que j’ai longuement hésité à prendre d’une autre couleur. J’ai finalement choisi la sécurité avec le blanc, le jonc de mer installé au sol donnant déjà un aspect suffisamment chaleureux à la pièce.
En bref, toujours dans la même veine que dans mes précédents articles de déco Home Sweet Home et 7 ans dans 18m2, le but est de préserver le maximum d’espace au sol pour éviter d’amenuiser la pièce. Optez pour des rangements fonctionnels et choisissez les modèles les plus sobres possibles pour ne pas vous lasser trop vite. Enfin, concernant la couleur, ça n’est pas très original mais ça reste une valeur sûre, le blanc restera la meilleure des solutions pour préserver la lumière dans une pièce petite ou mal exposée.

We meet again on this new Sunday for the fourth and last part of my mini-series Welcome Home. I chose to show you this room last because it was the one that required the most attention and that I took the longest to arrange.
Even if the result is quite accomplished, you should know that some changes will happen in the next months. Especially concerning the storage system that I would like to optimize as much as possible.
You may not know it, but the house I currently live in, which was originally a one-story house, has been renovated from top to bottom. The work allowed us to break down the old attic to make a floor, admittedly with low ceilings, but a floor nonetheless!
This gain of space gave life to a real bedroom, separated from the living room and thus to gain more space on the first floor.
The first few nights after the move were an opportunity to go camping because I had nothing but a sofa bed that was now sitting in my new living room. So I had to invest in a real bed, with a real mattress, a real box spring and it’s with a non dissimulated enthusiasm that I chose to give in to my crush.
A bed that combines style and practicality. With its beige quilted frame and romantic lines, the Hauga bed also has four storage compartments (two on each side) where I could store all my linens, pajamas and bathing suits.
Since the ceiling was relatively low and the room was totally empty when I moved in, I also had to choose an efficient option to optimize the attic areas and thus save a maximum of floor space.
So I opted for Kallax storage units from Ikea to arrange the whole length of the attic. And even if they have nothing aesthetic, these lockers are nevertheless very practical to store socks and underwear.
For the lighting, even if the two Velux windows were already providing a nice source of natural light, I decided to use cane or wood-effect bedside lamps and wall lamps to keep a natural look. Perfect for a cozy and subdued atmosphere in the evenings when I prefer to slip into bed earlier than expected and read a good book.
Last but not least, the famous Malm chest of drawers that I hesitated for a long time to choose another color. I finally chose the safety of white, the sea rush on the floor already giving the room a warm enough look.
In short, still in the same vein as my previous Home Sweet Home and 7 years in 18m2 decorating articles, the goal is to preserve the maximum amount of floor space to avoid shrinking the room. Opt for functional storage units and choose the most sober models possible to avoid getting bored too quickly. Finally, concerning the color, it is not very original but it remains a safe value, white will remain the best solution to preserve the light in a small or badly exposed room.
