For this third part of the mini-series « Welcome Home », I have the pleasure to talk about a subject that I love and that makes me happy: cooking. If you’ve been reading me for a while, you’ll surely have noticed my love for pastry and culinary confections of all kinds.
After spending almost eight years in a studio, cooking on my washing machine for lack of space, I finally got a functional and equipped kitchen that allows me to concoct new recipes for my meals with friends or for the blog.
I would never have dared to imagine so much comfort and space a year ago and I must admit that this radical change is more than welcome.
This gave me the opportunity to make a non-exhaustive list of the torture equipment I use today and that I refuse to part with when I start cooking.
To begin with, I talked about it in my articles dedicated to Home Sweet Home and 7 years in 18m2, the flagrant lack of space in my previous kitchen did not allow me to have even a coffee maker to offer an espresso to my guests. That’s why I chose a Create coffee machine as a housewarming gift.
As I love to entertain, it was important for me to have something to serve other than hot water. And speaking of hot water, I also brought along this Russel Hobbs competition kettle with its matching toaster, ideal for browning Sunday toast.
I can’t figure out how my old apartment held so many decanters, but they’ve never been as neatly arranged as they are here. My collection of dishes is certainly more and more decadent, but I must admit that it is a pet peeve of mine that I keep up with thanks to frequent trips to Emmaüs.
I also took the opportunity to put some decorative elements to bring a touch of color to the walls and this little iron box I bought last summer reminds me of long walks along the seaside on the French Riviera.
The last purchase I made for the kitchen was this large wicker chest from Casa. I store the groceries that used to pile up in a shopping cart that was beginning to give up the ghost. There is no doubt about it, my passion for wicker should be on my resume…
Finally, I had the pleasure to recycle, during my move, this console which was already used in my previous kitchen. I took advantage of the available space to put my mirror and some fruit on it. And between us, even if I love this room very much, I must admit that this little corner is my favorite.
