Dear friends, here we are on the blog with something to start this new year with. And what could be better than French toast to make up for the baguettes left out on New Year’s Eve? The advantage with this recipe is that, like our grandmothers, we recover, we mix, we transform and especially, we save. With 2-3 ingredients, you end up with enough to make a hearty snack to enjoy in good company. Are you ready? Here we go!
To make French toast the way it’s supposed to be done, here are a few things you can easily find in your fridge:
25cl of milk
75g of cane sugar
2 eggs
1 knob of butter
sliced stale bread
Start by pouring the milk, sugar and two whole eggs into a large enough container to soak the bread slices. Let them soak for 5 to 10 minutes to soften the bread a bit.
Once the bread is soft enough, place it in a buttered frying pan so that it does not stick. Let the slices simmer on one side and then on the other until they are golden brown and crispy.
All that’s left to do is to present the whole thing in a pretty dish that you can share with those you like over a hot tea. Or save some for a breakfast that is sure to be out of the ordinary.
