ENGLISH VERSION :
Since the creation of the blog two years ago, I had promised myself to do an article on this more than famous restaurant. So when the opportunity arose, I went without hesitation to book a table at La Durée.
For the record, La Durée was originally created in 1862 as a bakery, which was then transformed into a pastry shop after a fire a few years later. The sign was then transformed again with the inauguration of a tea room on the floor, before becoming a franchise developed in the whole world.
A must among Parisian tea rooms, we took advantage of a mild Saturday morning in January to enjoy a delicious « breakfast ». In a decor made of moldings and silverware, we thought we were back in the boudoirs of yesteryear. What could be better than gorging yourself with pastries and pastries in such a charming place?
We were copiously served. On the menu, muffins and scrambled eggs (my favorite), toast, honey and jam, mini-viennoiseries, hot drinks and fruit juices, without forgetting of course a fresh applesauce to digest everything.
Special mention to the homemade hot chocolate which I must underline the quality. If you are like me, a fan of old fashioned hot drinks, you will not be disappointed. The texture of the chocolate is incredible and after one sip, you won’t be able to go back to the era of Poulain and Nesquik.
The pleasure of enjoying a good meal in an atmosphere as warm as that of the old French houses made me want to
to discover more about our addresses in Paris or elsewhere.
If you have some to recommend, don’t hesitate to mention them in the comments. I’d be happy to write about them.
In short, after having spent more than two hours at the table, we took advantage of the nice weather to wander around Paris and believe me, if the doggy-bag was welcome, the digestive walk, too, was not to be refused!
